The new coach of Albania’s national football team, Christian Pannucci,
reminds players that discipline may sacrifice quality as well.
He left Sokol Cikalleshi outside in the first match, after he didn’t respect the date of the first gathering.
“We have 23 players, from 24. Cikalleshi called me and said he couldn’t come because he was signing with the new club. I communicated him that I could not give him permission to not be with the national team. Agreements can be signed through e-mails as well, or through managers. These are my rules and they need to be respected”, Panucci declared, insisting that the national team is important and it needs strong will.
“As for Xhaka, his lawyer called me later and apologized, so I accepted his apology. The case is closed”, Panucci said, adding that the team needs its pride restored in the two upcoming matches with Liechtenstein and Macedonia.
Cikaleshi also reacted, and said it was just a misunderstanding, but the most important thing was for the team to win.
