Albania’s ranking in global competitiveness increased with 13 spots, compared to the past year.

The Global Economic Forum published the report for 2016-2017, and Albania is ranked 80th among 138 countries. This is the best spot in the past 5 years. Last year Albania was 93rd.

The report notes that Albania has improved with three out of four main pillars: the strengthening of institutions, macroeconomic environment and the education and health system. According to the World Economic Forum, Albania has left behind countries such as Greece, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia.

Based on the economic world forum, businesses in Albania consider corruption as the most problematic factor. The second and third factors are the tax burden and the lack of qualified labor force.

This report is considered as one of the most complete indicators of the economic situation.
