The Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, appealed the citizens to not use
antibiotics when not advised by the family doctor, together with the
respective prescription.
This phenomenon is widely extent, when people go to the drugstores and order antibiotics even when it is not necessary, without thinking about its effects in the organism. According to the doctors, this creates a higher microbe resistance in their system, which reduces immunity and increased mortality.
“We appeal not only the health class, but the entire public, to be careful when using antibiotics. Pharmacists should not give medicaments without the doctor’s prescription. Antibiotics should be used only with the doctors’ advice”, Minister Vasili declared.
Antibiotics destroy or impede the growth of bacteria in organism. The resistance to antibiotics is the microbes’ ability to multiply and prolong illnesses.
Doctors are obliged to use stronger antibiotics against resistant bacteria, which also have more side effects.
