A troop of the Albanian theater will perform in China for the first time.
Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” will be played in two festivals in China, as the troops prepare to depart this September.
This year the troop will go with actors such as Ndricim Xhepa, Naum Shundi, Indrit Cobani, etc.
“The selection was made based on DVD-s and shows. We sent them to China and commissions started working for the selection, until we chose the Taming of the Shrew”, said Director Elma Dorezi.
“I am certain that the actors’ play, costumes, scene, music and staging have played their role for this selection, besides the play itself. I’m sure all have contributed a bit, from Shakespeare to others”, Dorezi said.
Dorezi also answered to critics, who said that the grotesque used by her in this show had “derailed” Shakespeare’s play, to bring to the public an attractive comedy. She says that this concept has been used by our neighbors as well.
“A show in Athens was based on the same concept and there were no critics about deforming Shakespeare’s work”, Dorezi added.
