The villages of Orashje, Bosnia, are losing from sight each day more,
covered by the floods of rivers. The biggest salvation team in this area
is made of Albanians.
They are preparing to cross the flooded parts this morning. They will travel by truck to a certain point, and then they will continue with boats. They say they were welcomed by the residents, and for Albania this is very important in an international mission.
“We have been welcomed by the residents. We are working with everything that we have”, declared Lulzim Beqiri, vice chief of the Shkoder Special Forces.
“We mobilized to give our help here, together with the local units”, declared Nebi Mucaj, Director of the Voluntary Center for Civilian Emergencies.
The water level is growing in these villages, although there have been no more rains. A baker from Kosovo has arrived to help with free bread for the residents.
“I was happy to hear that there were Albanian teams helping, and that’s why I decided to help”, declared Gani Uroshi.
“I want to thank Albania for their help and for making the consequences of this catastrophe a bit lighter”, declared Damir Shoshic, resident of the Vidovica village.
Bosnia and Serbia suffered severe floods after heavy rains filled rivers to the point of making dams to explode. Thousands of people were evacuated.
The number of victims might be around 40, but the exact outcome is not known yet. For Albania, this assistance together with the developed countries is a new beginning.
