The heads of Albanian institutions and politicians remembered today the 79th anniversary of the Liberation of Albania on November 29, 1944, with tributes at the martyrs’ cemeteries.
President of Bajram Begaj said at the official ceremony: “Happy Liberation Day Albania! Eternal honor to those who with their courage, bravery and sacrifices, gave us our liberation!”
The President of the National Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, conveyed her congratulations with the message that Albania is now a worthy member of NATO, contributing to peace, security and stability in Europe.
“November 29, Liberation Day, is the crowning of the Anti-Fascist National-Liberation War of the Albanian people. The liberation of Albania is a monumental work of the Albanian partisans, supported by the people, who in the Second World War put Albania on the right side of history.”
The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj said that today we should celebrate and honor the memories of those who fought for freedom.
“Happy 79th anniversary of the Liberation of Albania! On this important day, let’s celebrate and honor the memories of those who fought for our freedom”, Veliaj wrote.
Head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, had a congratulatory message for Liberation Day, calling the anti-fascist National-Liberation war an inspiration for all generations.
“Eternal gratitude to all those sons and daughters of the nation, who sacrificed everything for the freedom of the country. The Anti-Fascist National-Liberation War will always remain an inspiration for all generations,” wrote Meta.
