Albanian PM Rama: “June 18th, Vetting Day”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, officially announced the
elcetoral campaign in Durres, where he presented the program of the
Socialist Party for the next four years.

Despite considering the next elections as the most difficult challenge for the Socialist Party, Rama said the absence of the Democratic Party in these elections was regrettable.

“The party born 27 years ago is now disoriented, decided to abandon elections because of the great fear from justice. They have closed themselves inside a plastic bunker, declaring war to every windmill of the world, because they cannot get a decent sleep since they were forced to vote the judiciary reform, with the illusion it would remain on paper. But they cannot ask votes from Albanians without voting the Vetting Law. This is why they want to blow up elections, with the cost of blowing up the entire country, same as they did 20 years ago. I am said that it came to here. I did everything possible for this to not happen”, the Prime Minister declared.

Rama said that he would prefer having the Democratic Party in these elections, who, he said, have chosen this kind of politics on their own.

“Churchill once said that the problem with political suicide is that you don’t die, but you keep living for the rest of your life with the regret of why you did it. They chose it on their own. I would have preferred having them in front of us, beating them harder than in 2013. Now we will have to let them go ahead”, Rama said.
