Five Italians and three Albanians were arrested in the Italian cities of
Barleta, Brindisi, Pescara and Cremona. The eight suspects are accused
of building an illegal criminal network from Albania for the marijuana
traffic.
Investigations started in 2013, when 100 kg of hashish were seized and two Albanian citizens were arrested in Altamura.
Police started investigating an Italian-Albanian criminal organization with its headquarters in Barletta, which has allegedly transported 1.2 tons of hashish, 4.5 kg of dynamite, 1.1 kg heroine and cocaine, 1 AK-47 and 25 bullets.
Italian media say that an Albanian of Italian citizenship, Roland Lame, 47, and his son, 25, kept their connections with traffickers in Albania.
For the Italian police, the seizing of one ton of cannabis, bullets and dynamite, shows how dangerous was this group.
