The UN Council of Security reviewed this Monday in New York the first
report of the joint investigative mechanism, which was established to
find evidence about those who are responsible for the usage of chemical
weapons in Syria.

Part of this three-member mechanism is the Albanian diplomat, Adrian Neritani, former Ambassador of Albania at the UN. In a phone conversation for Top Channel he gave details about the report:

“The chemical weapons have been used in 91 cases. The group investigated the colossal evidence and concluded that there is enough information for further investigation for at least eight cases, for finding those responsible”, said Adrian Neritani.

When asked if he believes that the authors will be verified, Neritani said that this is the objective.

“We will do everything possible. The maximal initial deadline is the end of September, which may be postponed even further based on any decision that needs to be taken by the Council of Security”, said Ardian Neritani.

As for the disagreements between the higher powers in the Council of Security for Syria, he said that the results of this investigation cannot be contested. The parties simply disagree on the authors.
