Albanian Bank lowers interest rate

The Bank of Albania reduced the interest rate for ALL with 0.25%, bringing it to 4.25%.

According to the Albanian Bank Governor, this decision of the Supervision Council was taken in order to revive consumption, private investments and for stimulating the economy. The Governor declared that the reduction of the interest rate was incited by the sensible fall of inflation and public investments by the government.

Meanwhile, the consumption remains low, although there have been some signs of life for the economy. Governor Fullani declared that during the first three months of the year, the economic growth has slowed down due to the effects of the crisis, and that 2012 will be a challenge for the country’s economy.
