Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, asked the General Prosecutor, Adriatik Lalla,
to start the investigations for the broken embargo in Libya by the
Albanian authorities.
The opposition MP addressed to the Prosecutor General with this request for starting the investigations, in which he attaches the report of the Panel of Experts at the UN Security Council.
“As you can see, Albania occupies a large part of this report, including the traffic of arms and munitions, a clear violation of the arms embargo imposed by the UN for Libya.
Brace underlines the result of this investigation, in which was discovered that the state owned enterprise of the import-export military goods at the Interior Ministry, MEICO, and the civil aviation officials in Tirana have broken the embargo by sending arms to Libya.
“The expert panel has collected facts and evidence which prove that the Albanian authorities have violated the international laws by selling arms and ammunition to countries under the UN embargo”, Brace writes to the General Prosecutor.
The Albanian authorities confirmed this fact by considering it a human error, while the Ministry of Defense itself admitted a few days ago that they have sent arms to Libya only to supply them to the rebels.
By listing these facts and by considering it a very serious violation for a government, Erjon Brace makes this request to Lalla:
“I am asking you to analyze and evaluate all the facts and evidence that this report brings, in order to start an all-inclusive investigation for the responsible officials of this serious crime”.
