Experts say that Britain’s exit from the EU creates a new situation of uncertainty for the economy of the Eurozone.
“Europe will certainly be weaker. The main advantage of the EU was economy. There will be consequences in the areas of security and perception”, says Arben Malaj, economist and former Minister of Finances.
Ardian Civici, professor of Economic Sciences, said that Britain’s exit will make the European economy weaker. However, he said, Europe is very important for the British economy, but Britain does not have the same economic influence.
“I think this is a manageable hit, but it will request new measures and a more clear project for the EU”, Civici declared.
Direct consequences will be first felt by countries with which Britain has close trade relations. But experts fear chain economic reactions that may affect even Albania.
“This will influence foreign investments and will hit the economic growth”, Malaj said.
“The EU will not be very keen to fund projects in Balkan countries and Albania without solving these problems first”, Civici said.
The effects in Balkan may not be limited by economy only.
“Churchill once said that Balkan produces more news they can consume. I think that the negative impact of Brexit may generate in some Western Balkan countries the revival of nationalistic stances”, Malaj says.
“We are entering a relatively troubled political and economic situation”, Civici concludes.
