Albania-USA friendship

Citizens of all group ages filled the pedestrian street “Murat Toptani”, visiting the tents that provided information for the projects of this embassy in the last 20 years.

The ceremony was opened by the Albanian Army Orchestra.

In the opening speech, the US Ambassador in our country, Alexander Arvizu, thanked the Albanian people for allowing USA to become part of their development.

“Thank you for allowing us to be part of you in the last 20 years, when you have built Albania. I want to thank the Tirana Municipality and the State Police, without whom this event would not have been organized. I also want to thank the media”, Arvizu declared.

The Mayor Lulzim Basha expressed his gratitude for the important role of the USA during the important events of the Albanian people.

“For us, the Albanians, the reopening of the US Embassy, 20 years ago, was a very big and important event. USA is for us more than a country. It is a big idea. The idea that freedom is possible, that people are created for being free and that only in freedom can man realize his full potential: the idea that democracy gives results and the voice of the citizens must be heard”, declared Basha in his greeting speech.

“In these 20 years of friendship, we are grateful to the USA for the decisive role in the freedom and independence of Kosovo, and for the support that the USA gave in Albania’s NATO membership. For this I want to remind the Albanian men that are serving to freedom all around the world”, the Mayor declared.
