Now that the dismantling of old ammunition of the Albanian army is over, many ammunition factories in Albania have no activity to operate.
For this reason, the Ministry of Defense and the Government are trying to cooperate with private operators and gun producing companies of NATO countries.
One project will be implemented at the Mjekes factory in Elbasan, for which there has been interest from an Italian company.
“This investment mounts up to 25 million USD and will employ 150 people in the first phase. This is a leading firm in Europe for ammunition and it would be a perfect opportunity to revitalize the Mjekes factory”, said the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhacka.
The Ministry of Defense is welcoming similar projects for other military plants in the country.
