Albania: Serbian elections in Kosovo, illegal

The Foreign Ministry declared that Belgrade’s decision for holding
elections in some Kosovo communes is illegal and unacceptable, since it
damages the integrity of their sovereign neighbor.
“The Serbian attempts for holding elections in the Kosovo Territory fall against the spirit of the dialogue that has been held between the countries so far, with the EU mediation, where Serbia wants to integrate”, the Foreign Ministry reaction says.
The Albanian Foreign Ministry, considering these elections as illegal, underlines that they will have no juridical effect, and the elected people will have no legal authority.
“The only effect brought by these elections is to reinforce the parallel criminal structures of the Serbs in northern Kosovo, the dismantling of which is an obligation of Serbia. These elections also damage the perspective of the complete integration of the ethnic communities in the institutions and society of the Republic of Kosovo”, the reaction says.
