Albania will remain outside the EU, if there will be no progress with the justice reforms.

The British Ambhassador, Fiona McIllwham, considered the justice reforms as the most essential point for the EU integration. During a visit in Korce, the Ambassador declared that Albania’s essential requirements, such as justice reforms, war against criminality etc, should be discussed beyond the narrow political circle. The independence and effectiveness of the justice system makes the government and the parliament accountable for their actions.

“The independence of the justice system is needed for preserving the law, for fighting corruption and for holding the institutions accountable for their actions. There is a wider and more interesting point for the international partners. An Albania with independent and professional institutions would be a more reliable partner for our mutual relations, for NATO and the EU”, McIllwham declared.

Speaking about the criminality, the ambassador declared that there will be further cooperation between Albania and Britain, because this is a common issue. During a meeting with the Fan Noli University students, in Korce, the British Ambassador appealed for impartial justice and rule of law, as a right that should be granted to any citizen.
