Albanian justice system wants to extradite from Great Britain, four British citizens and the naturalized British Albanian Edmond Haxhia, accused by the prosecution of Lezha in the northwest of the country, of being involved in the murder of Ardian Nikulaj, last April in Shengjin.

In the morning of Tuesday the decision will be made whether this extradition request of the Albanian state will be accepted or rejected.

Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, reported what are the expectations for the decision of the London court on the issue.

“During the last 25 years, about 300 Albanian citizens have appeared at the Westminster court, as requested by Albanian justice or European countries.

“But this extradition process is unprecedented, as it is the first time that Albanian justice requests the extradition of four British citizens.

Thomas MITHAN, Steven HUNT, Harry SIMPSON, Harriet BRIDGEMAN and the Albanian Edmond HAXHIA, will be again in front of the court to learn the decision.

They were arrested in May 2023, one month after the murder of Ardian Nikulaj”, reported Veliu.

The Top Channel journalist further explained that “there are several factors in favor of the Albanian state requesting extradition, such as the film and scientific evidence collected in the investigation of the murder of Ardian Nikulaj.

Secondly, a letter of guarantee drawn up by the prosecutor Shehaj and with the signature of the minister of justice Ulsi Manja sent to the court, where it is guaranteed that Edmond Haxhia will not be punished for a blood feud, a criminal offense punishable by 30 years in prison to life in prison.

The case depends by Judge Paul Goldspring, who has a decision ready to read Tuesday morning.

The parliaments of Albania and Great Britain have ratified the mutual extradition agreement between the two countries a few years ago.

For the murder of Ardian Nikulaj at the end of December 2023, the Directorate for Foreign Relations in the State Police and the Interpol Tirana office successfully extradited Ruben Saraiva from Morocco.
