The Albanian government declared this a mourning day for our country,
honoring Sokol Olldashi, an Albanian Parliament Member and politician.
National flags in all state institutions were half-mast today.
The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, expressed his condolences to his family, and declared that Olldashi will be remembered for his contribution in the political life, and his efforts for democracy.
Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, declared that he heart and prayers goes to the Democratic Party colleagues and all political calss, who found in Olldashi the representative of a group of politicians who fought in the important December of 1990.
The head of the OSCE in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, also expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of Olldashi, saying that the hearts and prayers of his colleagues go to his family, friends and colleagues.
The United States Ambassador expressed his condolences for the loss, and declared that he is lucky to have had the chance to meet and get to know him.
The Kosovo Parliament started today’s session with condolences for the Olldashi family, the Albanian Parliament, the Democratic Party and all Albanian citizens.
The Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga; Prime Minister Hashim Thaci; the Parliament Speaker, Jakup Krasniqi; the LDK leader, Isa Mustafa and other political leaders have sent condolences telegrams to the Albanian state and the Olldashi family, together with the Parliament Members of the minorities in Kosovo.
