Albania and Greece have made progress and are now close to a new deal.
This was confirmed by both foreign Ministers at the Thessaloniki Ministerial meeting, the third since 2016 that is being held in Greece.
“I think that we are facing a favourable situation. We have all possibilities to find a new agreement, which will be better and implementable by both countries”, Bushati said.
“I am very happy that by June we will be able to conclude this package of matters that we had with Albania, with issues dating 70 years ago”, Kotzias declared.
In an interview for the Greek state TV, Bushati declared that both parties are working on an improving the agreement regarding the Exclusive Economic Area.
“The principles that we want to apply in a new agreement will be better for both sides, different from 2009. The core of this discussion is the necessity to apply justice of principles in practice”, Bushati underlined.
Present in this summit, besides the Foreign Ministers of Greece, Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia, are also the Interior and Transportation Ministers.
