Airport security, perimeter fence divides responsibilities

06/07/2016 00:00

The Tirana International Airport perimeter is surrounded by a fence that
divides security responsibilities between the government and a private
company called ICTS. Although the airport is in Albanian territory, the
Albanian police is in charge only for the area outside this perimeter.

The private company has not taken any additional security measure even six days after the robbery, while the police has established road blocks.

Prosecution data show that the robbers were so calm that they had time to cut the door open and even put a stopper so that it didn’t close on its own before they were out.

But what else did not work well during these three minutes of robbery, besides the security elements?

The Prosecution is inspecting the documents between the bank and the security company while investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Airport Chief has opened the possibility to improve the security conditions of the airport.
