Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Health Ministry announces that 478 persons in our country are
affected by HIV, while 65 other cases have been identified in 2011.
This number could be bigger, because other people who have not made the test might also be touched by the dangerous virus.
Data from the Ministry suggest that 63% of the infected people come from this group age.
AIDS deaths fall with 21%
Deaths caused by AIDS have reduced since 2005, when they peaked. There are 21% acses less. The result comes from a UN report, which says that this achievement is due to the antiretroviral medicaments that slow down the spread of the illness in the organism.
The study says that the world is facing a big positive change, although in the midst of a financial crisis.
The number of people that live with AIDS in their body is 34 million. Improvements also come from the most problematic areas, Subaharian Africa, where the number of people who take medical treatment has increased with 20%.
During 2010 there were 2.7 million new patients, a number that in 1997 was 3.2 million. 1.8 million people died in 2010 from AIDS. This number was 2.2 million in 2005.
Good improvements come from countries like Namibi, where the population is more aware for using preventive measures, underlining that maybe it will disappear in a relatively short time.
