The Amnesty International Report, expected to be published after a few hours, has critics towards Albania.

“The political leadership has failed in governing the country. Corruption is a great concern and there is a lack of impartiality in any life sector”, says the report for 2011, which is quoted by Jezerca Tigani, Vice Director for Europe in this organization.

During an interview for Voice of America, she declared that Amnesty International states that the civil society in the country is disappointed from the political class, while emphasizes as very concerning the situation at the Treatment Center for Violated Women.

“Albania keeps failing in the country’s leadership, and this is seen with the corruption and the lack of impartiality in every aspect of life. The Albanian civil society has completely lost the trust to the Albanian authorities and the country’s leadership. I will mention one of the parts in which AI has worked for many years, which is the violence against women, especially the domestic violence, when on November 2011 was opened for the first time a shelter for women that have suffered domestic violence. Less than 6 months have passed and we have heard difficult reports for the way how this shelter is working in Tirana”, quoted the vice Director for Europe and Central Asia at the AI, Jezerca Tigani.
