Ahmetaj: Government failed with energy

“The government and the Energy Regulation Entity must tell the Albanian citizens who the main responsible for the 1 billion EUR economic damage is; what will happen with the 1.2 billion USD debt chain, and who will suffer the consequences. All of this is just a burden on the Albanian citizens’ shoulders”, the Socialist MP declared.

Ahmetaj thinks the reason why the energy sector degraded to a double collapse is the corruptive management which has served to close government interests.

“The problem is this government, which makes nothing rational but feeding its clients through this system that is now on the brink of collapse. As an opposition, we have listed all corruptive affairs in this sector”, Ahmetaj declared.

Now that the failure of the privatized energy distribution is now official, the government is trying to take the company under state control. The opposition claims that the procedures followed by ERE are ridiculous and will deteriorate the crisis. The Socialists say that the only solution is to remove corruption from that sector.

“We are sure that after the company will be taken over by the government, the appointed administrator will come from the party benches. This is the corruptive affair of the century. The first thing that the Socialist government will do is to investigate this breathtaking corruption affair”, Ahmetaj declared.

ERE is expected to take the final decision on CEZ licence in a few days, and one of the most possible options is to return the energy distribution system under state control.
