Agricultural subventions

The government has taken a decision that changes the criteria of the
agricultural subventions and respective fees. For some cultures,
like olives and vineyards, the subventions that a farmer could benefit
from the state budget have decreased.

For planting olives, the budget subventions for farmers go from 350.000 to 250.000 ALL per ha in intensive ways, and 180.000 for traditional ones.

For the nut trees, the fee goes from 350.000 to 250.000 ALL, while for the vineyards it goes from 300.000 to 250.000 ALL per ha.

In all cases, the farmers could benefit money from the budget only if they have planted a bigger area than 2000 square meters of the respective culture.

Official sources declared for Top Channel that the subvention fee has decreased due to the great number of requests made by farmers, which the budget is unable to afford.

But in parallel with the subventions’ fee reduction, the government has increased the number of products through which the farmers could get subventions from the state, such as the cultivation of medicinal plants and breeding of snails.

The government also approved today a decision that encourages farmers to organize in agricultural associations, as cooperatives with modern concepts and private management by the farmers.
