The Tirana Court will review this Wednesday two requests for the only
National Guard officer who is staying in prison, Agim Llupo.

One of the requests is filed by Agim Llupo, who demands his freedom, and one hour later, the Court will review the Prosecution’s request for expanding the investigation periods and keep the defendant for three other months to prison.

The defendant and the prosecutors appeared in front of Judge Shkelqim Mustafa for their requests, which were postponed to Wednesday. In the room was also his former lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, who gave up his defense due to the regulation, since he also defends the former Commander, Ndrea Prendi.

This Wednesday, the case of the only National Guard officer who is in prison will turn into a case of implementing the procedural deadlines, a scenario used even previously by high-rank politicians. However, Judge Shkelqim Mustafa must decide if he will accept the request of Llupo or that of the Prosecution, one hour later.

It remains unknown why the Prosecution filed the request about him in the last minutes of the deadline, and if the absence of his new lawyer was by chance or if it is part of the procedural games.

Another court, that of the Appeal, will review this Wednesday the prosecution’s request for sending to prison the former National Guard Commander, Ndrea Prendi, who is now in house arrest due to the lack of some documents that the prosecutors should have attached, together with the weapon that took the life of the protester Faik Myrtaj, for which Prendi is accused.

The Prosecution declared that the investigation period for the IT, Armando Kasaj, will be three months long. Kasaj will also face the prosecution’s request at the Court of Appeal for changing the house arrest to imprisonment.
