Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Deans and professors of the universities think that the scheme for
admitting students in public universities must change, because it is not
efficient and it has essential problems with the administration.
The dean of the medicine faculty, one of the most important as regards the students’ specializations and the country’s requests, says that 50 to 60% of the first year students fail in basic classes like physics, chemistry and biology.
Compared to some years ago, the number of students that win the right to study at the faculty of medicine in Tirana is much bigger from the rural high schools of the country and from other cities.
“The geographical map is enlarging, while students used to come mostly from the high schools of Tirana, Fier, Elbasan, Gjirokaster and Shkoder. There are more students from suburg areas than before”, Hysa declared.
“The increase of cheating in tests shows that there is a degradation in every area, even in education and the high school graduation final exams”, declared the SP leader, Edi Rama.
The review of the High School Graduation final exams, which was conceived as a solution against corruption by the former Minister of Education, Genc Pollo, has also been mentioned by the opposition leader, Edi Rama, who declared that the opposition’s program will bring a radical change on this matter.
“We have underlined since 2008 that the state graduation final exams cannot serve as the test that will allow the students to enter the state universities, but only as a final test, for not compromising the State Graduation Final Exam and the admission process for the universities”, Rama declared.
