After President, Konomi sends letter to Berisha

With the first public letter addressed to the President, the Minister of Justice and the Vice Chairman of the High Council of Justice, the Konomi family asks not only the protection of the family members, but also that of the judges that will treat the case of October 3rd.

“We are addressing you this letter in these difficult moments, as the highest warrantors of the justice system in Albania, based on your engagement that the authors of this macabre crime will be brought to justice as soon as possible. We hope that finally, the life and property of our family members will be protected by the force of the law that has vested in you this authority. For as long that the crime and the property case remains unsolved, we dread that our lives are in danger”, says the first letter.

This Monday, the Court of Tirana will review a suit filed by the families that pretend the same land that the Konomi family has inherited. They have demanded that the Supreme Court decision should not be executed; hence the family of the murdered judge is appealing for a just trial.

 Without wanting to insinuate anything, we ask you to use your influence for having a calm and regular process, in full accordance with the law. Our family wants not only the protection of our relatives, but also that of the judge panel, against possible pressures. Finding the authors of the crime and finalizing the property ownership procedures is a way for easing the pain for the great loss, and for the state to give a good example of functionality. Despite the terrible crime and the threat that stands over the property ownership case, the Konomi family is determined to follow every legal means for their rights, regardless any criminal act that aims to obstruct justice”, declared the Konomi family in this letter.

Top Channel has secured another letter of the Konomi relatives, which they have sent to the Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

In this letter, the relatives of Skerdilajd Konomi not only express the fear for their lives and for losing their property through threats and manipulations from other structures, but they also express their suspicions that the murder is connected with the property in Durres. They appeal the Prime Minister to guarantee a just judicial process.

“For five years, Skerdilajd tried to achieve justice with his family properties in Durres. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish it, although the Supreme Court had entitled him to it. We suspect that his murder is connected with this process. Following the verdict of the court, the family has applied for registering the lands in the Property Registration Office. Concerned that the result of this law could be compromised by direct or indirect manipulations, we expect from authorities to exert all the power vested to them by the law for guaranteeing justice. Fully trusting for your sincere support, we ask for the law to prevail over the terrible crime against Skerdilajd and for the future of our life, our property and children”, says the letter of the Prime Minister.

Diplomatic sources say for Top Channel that the relatives of Judge Konomi have sent a third letter to the main embassies in the country.
