The Association of the Atlantic Tractate gathered its General Assembly
for the first time in Albania. The three day meeting focused on NATO-s
basic matters and the international and regional security.
Afghanistan was the main reference for all debates and discussions. The Albanian Defense Minsiter held a speech about the future of the international coalition in Afghanistan.
“Albania is proud to be part of the Alliance and for participating in the regional security protection. Our trainers have been involved in different missions in Afghanistan for creating the capacities of the European security forces. We have a colonel there, who is member of the joint team of 22 officers who cooperate with the National Guard of New Jersey. In the next year we will have a medical team as a contribution that is not only military, but that aims stability by creating police and military capacities”, Imami declared.
Besides the partnership perspective in the Mediterranean and Middle East areas, another matter that will be discussed in this Assembly is that of cybernetic threats.
