The General Chief of the Albanian State Police, Hysni Burgaj, and the
Italian vice Ambassador, Gioseppe Berlendi, have inspected the air
monitoring of the cannabis cultivation areas.

The joint operation between the Albanian and Italian police started on July 4th, as part of the agreement with Guardia di Finanzia, which offered two specialized airplanes for photographing and identifying the narcotic plants.

“We continue our cooperation with the Italian Police for monitoring the entire Albanian territory in the war against the cultivation of cannabis sativa. There are two airplanes of the latest technology that can detect any plant of cannabis sativa through special equipments that analyze color and radiation”, the General State Police declared.

After identifying the areas, the police will intervene from the land. This monitoring will also help identifying the police employees or village reeves who are not reporting the cannabis that is being planted in their villages. The Lazarat commune remains the most delicate area.

“I have the pleasure to confirm that the situation in Lazarat is much better than in the last years. The Head of the Commune, different from the other times, has given detailed information and has accompanied the police to eliminate the cannabis. We will never cease the fight for reaching our strategic objectives”, Burgaj declared.
