The World Economic Forum ranked Albania as the 76th among the competitive countries in the world, improving five spots compared to one year ago.
According to the WEF, Albania’s adoption of newer technology, not only among private operators but also by public institutions, has made the country more competitive.
However, other indicators, such as the police credibility, the spreading of organized crime and corruption have slightly deteriorated.
“Businesses may have not perceived that the justice reform is not yet tangible for businesses”, said Ilir Ciko, an economic expert.
The competition report is considered as a thorough evaluation of the economy since it is derived by 140 indicators related not only to the economy but also to social development and governing.
Albania is a more competitive economy than Macedonia and Bosnia, but it is ranked behind Montenegro, Serbia and all EU countries.
