The Administrative Court has saved the Osum Canyons with a ruling taken on July 30th, in which they accept the decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, which, in February of this year, ruled to cancel the agreement for building two Hydropower Plants at the Osum Canyons.
After this decision, the “HP Bigas and Veleshnje Energy”, which would build the HPP, addressed the Administrative Court with a request to invalidate the decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, backed by several other institutions, who raised their voices against the destruction of this natural beauty.
But the administrative court rejected all requests of the private company, legitimating this way the decision for a unilateral termination of the agreement with the purpose to preserve the natural values of these canyons.
