“Act now” against injustice

A few days after the launch of the “Act Now” campaign by the US
Ambassador to Tirana, Mr. Alexander Arvizu, two organizations (New
Albania and Civil Alternative) announced the start of a series of public
debates and actions related with the justice functionality and the
respect of human rights.

The first meeting was dedicated to the police behavior in the holding cells and prisons. Referring to the international organizations’ report about the human rights, and to the reports of the European Institutions and the US State Department, they presented the human right situation by pointing the violence acts that have taken place in the holding cells.

The human rights activist, Kozara Kati, proposed that the Albanian civil society must start producing human right reports, without having the need to give attention to the truth only when they come from international reports.

In the framework of the “Act Now” campaign, under the motto “No injustice in justice”, the head of the Civil Alternative, Mentor Kikia, asked for everyone to use all possible information means, especially the social networks, for reporting every human rights element. “Act now means not being silent in front of anything”, Kikia declared.
