Accusations on concessions

The Minister of Economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, was appealed in an
interpellation by the Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, who accused the
Albanian government of monopolizing the national assets and services.
“The government has given the chrome mines, the quarries, clay and cement. They have given the water resources for producing water and building private ports, parking services, etc. All are monopolies. It’s an asset for themselves and their children”, Brace declared.
“If you discourage domestic and foreign investors by saying that you will undo their concession agreements when in power, you damage the business and all Albanians”, Haxhinasto declared.
In another interpellation, the Socialist MP, Et’hem Ruka declared that the Kalivaci hydropower plan construction works have flooded 80% of the Vjose Valley agricultural land. Haxhinasto declared that the concessionary company has the legal obligation to execute the expropriations.
According to Haxhinasto, the government is looking for its options to stop the agreement with the company, since all deadlines have been violated.
“The Kalivaci dam construction is damaging the communes. The water has flooded four villages”, Ruka declared.
