Karim Kan, a British lawyer, was contracted by the Party for Justice,
Integrity and Unity to defend the Cham case. Kan has a series of
specialization titles in the penal international and human rights law,
and has defended several famous cases in international courts.

After his office studied for two years what is called a feasibility of the case, Karim Kan who is visiting Albania these days showed for Top Channel the possibilities of raising the Cham case.

“The lawyer’s profession is also that of vocation. In this case I am the voice of those who had their rights denied for a long time. My work on this case is to join forces and bring justice. We will make the voice of the survived people be heard. We will keep their testimonies for the massive violation, so that we can touch the international awareness”, Kan declared.

Kan says that he has defended several cases in the world, including that of Cambodia, which, despite the political and historic differences, has the human right issue equal to that of Chameria. This will be the legal basis n which he will defend the Cham case, supporting on the principle that no one stands above the law. Regardless the fact that the Cham case has a political dimensions between the two countries, Albania and Greece, by avoiding an answer about the chances of an international decision-making on this issue, Kan says that the possibilities are two: “I don’t want to give a precentage for the chances of this matter, but there are two percentages: either Greece will do the right thing, although late, and will bring justice. For example, why are the Cham people not allowed to visit the graves of their predecessors? This is discrimination and there’s no room in today’s world for this. We will insist on this. Every independent and right court will condemn this. Either Greece will do the right thing and accept a deal, or we will meet in court. These are the chances.”

Karim Kan is well known in the Balkan region for defending the former Chief of Armed Forces of Bosnia in former Yugoslavian war. For the Albanians he is known with the Limaj case.
