Citizens of Kolonja will vote for their new Mayor on November 20th.
Although the campaign has started two weeks ago, the racing fever is
nowhere to be felt between the Agrarian Party and the Socialist Party.
Ilia Stefo and Dritan Hajro are competing in their city of birth, but they say they don’t know each other.
The electoral race has not troubled the calm city, where there are no electoral posters or party flags on the street, just political talks in small cafes.
Ilia Stefo of the Socialist Party, who has worked as a surgeon in this town for the past 30 years, says he loves his profession and for one hour a day he will keep serving his citizens same as before, even if he is elected Mayor.
Dritan Hajro, from the opposition, has decided to stay far from the media. For years he has been traveling between Tirana and Erseka.
“I have never left Kolonja, I was simply citizen of two cities. During these years I have met people who have lived in poverty and wanted to abandoned this place. This is my purpose. I see myself as the right person for Kolonja”, says Hajro, a lawyer and father of two children.
He promises to rebuild the Erseka aqueduct and create 350 new jobs, in cooperation with businesses.
