For the 100-th anniversary of the Albanian independence, the Socialist
Party will open an exhibition with maps at the EU headquarters in
Brussels.

The exhibition, conceived by the opposition leader, Edi Rama, in cooperation with Artan Shkreli and Artan Lame, presents to the foreign audiences a present Albania, with its dignity in the European history. A selected collection of old maps, dating since the Middle Ages and until the 1830s will gather friends and guests from all Europe. Rama says that with this initiative they aim to promote the request for the EU candidate status of Albania.

“This collection that we will bring to the center of Europe is a surprising image of a new Albania, as we have never seen it, although we know that it has always been there, in the middle of the old continent”, Rama declared.

The European cartography is one of the most valuable heritage of humanity, as it is said in the accompanying pamphlet. The Europeans have written since the early ages about a people called “Alban”. Lame believes that this historical contribution will serve to continue the establishment of old relations and open way to the integration of all areas in the United Europe.
