80-year-old neighbour confesses beheading 19-year-old girl

Shaban Norja, the 80-year-old neighbour confessed with a stunning cold blooded calmness that he had raped Aishe Vata since she was 14, and then she had started having sexual intercourse with him on her own will for the last five years.

After learning that the girl was pregnant, Norja had asked the girl to abort her pregnancy, but the girl had told him that she would rather die. According to Norja’s confession, the girl had even suggested him to cut her head off after killing her, so that no one could know it was her.

Norja confessed that he met the girl at the usual place, where the police found the bloody clothes that belong to him and the victim, and after a harsh debate, he says he did what the girl told him to: first he ended her life with a bullet on the head, which he then cut off the body and disposed it. The coroner says that the head was cut with a butcher’s precision.

However, it’s still a mystery that the gunshot was not heard by anyone, considering that the crime was committed in a cabin belonging to Norja and that was not far from the other houses, especially when the victim’s father said that at that hour he had went out looking for her daughter.

Norja confessed that he had sexually abused other women in the village, one of whom might be one of Aishe’s older sisters, Valbona, who was abandoned by her husband after finding out that she was not a virgin. After this, Valbona had confessed that an old man of the village had raped her since young, but the family stayed silent on the matter, giving Norja the opportunity to commit another abuse.

The sister’s testimony was what helped the police most to find the author of the crime, but another testimony made it even more convincing. Norja’s son, an emigrant in Italy, feared a possible blood feud from Vata’s family and decided to help the police.

He gave clear details about his father’s whereabouts and the cabin where the crime was committed. Meanwhile, the residents in the Vellazerim village of Xhafzotaj commune still cannot believe that Norja is the author of this unheard murder. Many say that they knew him as a respected and peaceful old man in the village.

Both families were living close to each other since 12 years ago, when they came fro Surroi, Kukes. Norja lived alone, after the death of his wife many years ago, while his son had emigrated to Italy.

Meanwhile, the DNA tests have proved that the 80 year old really is the father of the victim’s child.
