The eighth dialogue between the Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Serbia
started at 10:30 in Brussels. Catherine Ashton held a 2 hour long
meeting with the Serbian delegation, to continue with a short meeting
with the delegation from Kosovo. The meeting with Prime Ministers Hashim
Thaci and Ivica Dacic started at 14:00.
Both parties will try to agree on the competences and functionality of the Serbian communes in Kosovo. According to the EU sources, no document will be signed today, but they hope to reach an agreement in principle.
While the Serbian party is trying to keep position, which go against those held by Kosovo, Prime Minister Thaci was optimistic, saying that this is a historic day for Kosovo.
Meanwhile, Catherine Ashton declared that the dialogue between Thaci and Dadic will be difficult, but not unreachable.
“I believe that they will find a solution which will be best for the people they represent”, she declared.
The Spokesperson of the US State Department, Victoria Nulland, expressed the support of the US for the dialogue and the hope to reach an agreement between the parties.
