Five members of the Vrapi family in Suke village, Strume commune, Fier
district, were killed this morning by 73-year-old Bajram Vrapi, who
didn’t agree with the engagement of his niece, the 17-year-old Merushe
Vrapi. Her parents were preparing this morning for her engagement
ceremony.
Xhemal and Drita Vrapi were at home when the girl’s uncle asked them why he had not been asked for the approval of this engagement.
When the girl answered that he didn’t ask for approval when he engaged his daughters has made the 73-year-old take a hunting rifle and kill his brothers, Xhemal and Besim Vrapi.
Then he killed Drita Vrapi, 43, and his niece Merushe, who was to be engaged tomorrow.
The killer tried to leave the scene and hid in a corn field. Police surrounded him and the killer shot himself.
The residents of the village, shocked by this tragedy, say that the 17-year-old took care of her uncle who lived only with his wife. Police has taken other persons for interrogation.
