The Court of Serious Crimes says that 700 persons have been found guilty
for drug traffic in the past 12 years. These numbers, according to the
President of this Court, show that Albania is still problematic for
drugs, not only as a country of origin.
“The features of these cases show that Albania is not only a country of origin for cannabis, but it is also used as a transitory country for heroin and cocaine”, said Sander Simoni.
The President of Serious Crimes suggests that the criminal law for drug traffic also needs to be reviewed, because cultivators are also being punished as members of organized crime.
There are 38 cases for international drug traffic, the strongest of which is the “Xibraka” case file, which led to the arrest of several suspects, even Columbian.
