More than 70 Funeral Service employees, who have been working for
the Sharre and Tufine Cemeteries for many years, were fired by the
Tirana Municipality and held a protest in front of the City Hall for explanations by their former employer.

The workers received the firing notice, but they require an explanation . The protested against the decision and demanded a solution from the Municipality.

The employees say that based on a Municipal Council decision, they should have been transferred to the Green Areas Service, but the vice Mayor, Edmond Panariti, declared that the current employees of the Green Areas Service will undertake their work in the future.

“The Municipality cannot pay two people for the same job. Their functions were transferred to the Green Areas Service. For this reason, the personnel will be changed. This action is completely justified, because we are cutting unjustifiable expenses that go for payments that do not respond to the specific functions of the required duty”, Panariti declared.

The Vice Mayor of the Municipality declared that most of the funds will go for investments on public objects.
