7 new hydropower concessions

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, signed the concession of
seven new hydropower plants. Spokesperson Erla Mehilli stated that the
hydropower plants in Qarr and Kaltanj were given in concession at the
Osum River. The hydropower plants of Babjen and Lozhan 2, together with
the Kasolle e Selces, at the Devoll River; the Guri i Kuq power plant at
a branch of the Osum River, the Driza hydropower plant in Bistrice, the
Potam hydropower plant at the Pavla River and the Denas hydropower
plant at the Cemerica River.

“The total investment goes to 6 billion ALL and it creates 1500 jobs of different professions. The number of hydropower plants given in concession in Albania reaches 332 with a total capacity of 1450 MW, while their investment value goes over 2 billion EUR”, Mehilli declared.

The Spokesperson considered the “efforts for discouraging businesses to not show interest on the energy concessions is envious and malicious”.
