550 inmates will benefit from the amnesty of this year, according to a
draft-law handed over at the Council of Ministers by the Ministry of
Justice.
Inmates who have been sentenced up to two years will benefit from the amnesty. All criminal cases that are investigating crimes committed on November 30th and that foresee 2 years of prison will be suspended.
The Ministry of Justice thinks that the amnesty application shouldn’t be seen only as an act of mercy, but as an act for establishing the dignity of the inmates and reducing the population.
The inmates who suffer alternative sentences will also be pardoned. Partially paid fines will also be pardoned. Females above 55 years of age, males above 60 years of age and who have been sentenced when they were 18, besides those sentenced for murder, sexual crimes and against state authorities will also be released.
The military actions and terrorist crimes will not be pardoned, together with crimes of gangs and that affect the elections, other people’s freedom, moral values, dignity and who have tried to evade.
