A serious event was recorded this afternoon in one of the private galleries of the Bulqiza mine, where according to local police, an accident occurred in the “First Zone” that claimed the life of a 52-year-old man who worked as a firestarter.
The police said that they have launched an investigation into the serious incident.
This is not the first time that tragic accidents have occurred in the mines of Albania, while in 2022 alone, 4 miners have died in work related incidents.
In July, two accidents occurred within a week, one of which turned out to be fatal. Miner Maksim Beça was seriously injured during work and was taken by helicopter to the trauma hospital in Tirana. But the 52-year-old with the initials S.D. did not manage to survive the injuries.
In May of this year, miner Besim Toska was seriously injured in the leg while working in the “Alb Chrom” mine in Bulqiza. He worked as a wagon driver and with the shovel-loading machinery of the wagons.
In March of this year, two miners died while working in the chrome gallery in Tropoja. They were Adil Dauti, 41 years old, and Afrim Zhutaj, 40 years old, both residents of Tropoja.
