52% of Albanians think that emigrating is a better option, but they no longer prefer neighboring countries

More than half of the Albanian population would want to move to richer countries for better education, according to a study published this Friday.
The study, carried out by Russell King from “Sussex University” revealed that the potential for emigration has increased from 44% in 2007 to 52% in 2018.
More than 1.4 million Albanians have left the country since 1991, mainly to Italy and Greece, fewer to Britain, Germany and the USA.
The study shows that the main reasons were the economic conditions. The difference is that Albanians now would want to travel to Germany or to the USA, and they are no longer attracted by the neighbouring countries.
