5168 të dënuar, from 5798 that there are in total in Albania, have been
registered in the Registrar’s Office of the cities their prisons are
situated. This wau they can vote on June 21st.
They will vote for the first time for the local elections. So far they had voted only for the central elections, after being accompanies by police. Top Channel has the list of all the prisoners in 21 prisons of Albania.
“They have not voted so far for the local elections, because they were not registered in the territories where the prisons are located. This is the first time that we fulfill this legal and constitutional obligation”, says the General Prison Director, Artur Zoto.
Due to the dynamics, 700 persons have addressed the Court with a request for a permit to vote. The only prison excluded is that of Kavaja, where prisoners are minors.
