After meeting with the Turkish Minister of Environment and Urbanization, Murat Kurum, the Albanian Minister for Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj, declared that the project goes beyond the construction of some buildings that will shelter the earthquake victims.

The project will take the shape of a new pole of urban-economic development.

“The project has 500 homes for the residents who lost theirs in Lac and Thumana.

“The houses will be accompanied by commercial environments and two important public environments, a school and the building of the municipality.

“It is a technological and urban concept that will survive for a long time as regards its style, urban and economic development.

“Technology-wise, it will be a novelty that may turn into a model for other projects.

The project is expected to be completed by July, according to the Turkish Minister, while their support will be constant.

“Our teams are on terrain to determine the buildings that have been damaged. They have verified the security of 600 objects”, said the Turkish Minister of Environment and Urbanization, Murat Kurum.

“We will sign an agreement of cooperation for this process, engaging social housing agencies. This agency in Turkey offers assistance even abroad”, Kurum said.

The Albanian government says that they are studying other areas for such projects in Tirana, Durres, Kavaja and Lezha.
