47 thousand Albanian citizens were expelled from the countries of the European Union during the last seven years.

Following the publication of the stats last month, the interior ministry has called for changes to the Foreigners Act, including new rules such as a concept known as ‘entry ban’ or deportation.

The charge for Albanians in EU countries who do not respect the rules of stay in Schengen countries will also be applied to foreigners who do not respect the same rules in Albania.

The new proposals have been put out for public consultation and relate to the voluntary departure of foreigners, an option that is also given to Albanians before they are deported or expelled when they have committed an offense in the EU.

At the same time, residence cards are proposed, residence permits categorized as ‘blue card’ or ‘domestic worker’ permit, which is issued according to the term of the contract, the authorities announce.
