The Court of Serious Crimes found guilty Dritan Dajti for the murder of
four police officers in 2009, and gave him four life sentences. Dajti
was found guilty for the murder of Kastriot Feskaj, Altin Dizdari,
Sajmir Duckollari and Fatos Xhani.
The verdict was given a few hours after the court session was held behind closed doors.
The Court had ordered to bring the defendant in court through force, since he refused to answer to their request for being present in the room and defend himself.
This stalemate took three weeks after the Prosecution requested four life sentences for Dritan Dajti, obliging the Court to use force for bringing him at the trial.
Dajti was also found guilty for illegal arm possession and the murder of Ledjon Mara, based on the testimonies of 22 police officers who took part in the operation for his arrest in August 2009.
Dajti’s trial marked a record of delays. It went on for four years, after the defendant declared that he couldn’t afford a lawyer and no one of the lawyers appointed by the Court accepted to defend him.
