The Republic of Kosovo is recognized by half of the UB member countries.
More than 51% of the world countries have recognized it so far”.

In an analysis of the 365 days that were left behind, the Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, underlined that the country won 13 recognitions during this year, spread throughout the globe.

As regards the five EU member countries that have not recognized Kosovo’s independence, Minister Hoxhaj says that while Serbia is going towards Kosovo’s independence recognition, Greece, Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus have no more reasons to not do the same.

The political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, according to the head of the Kosovo diplomacy, is being used as an argument to change the approach of these countries to Kosovo, and this is done through direct information.

Minister Hoxhaj also declared that the appointment of the Kosovo Ambassador in Belgrade will be held on January 2013. Hoxhaj steps that it is an important step to have the presence of a Kosovo ambassador in a country that is against independence, such as Serbia.

“For us, this office that serves as a connection with Belgrade is a complete diplomatic representation. The same will be for Serbia’s connection office and the man they will send with diplomatic privileges, and that will represent Kosovo in Belgrade”, Hoxhaj underlined.

“Kosovo and Serbia have had a difficult past, and it’s important for this person to be well prepared, to know the Serbian language and culture, and to project dynamism on the behalf of the Kosovo citizens”.

Hoxhaj also mentioned Kosovo’s membership at the EBRD, for which they received the vote of two countries that have not recognized its independence yet, such as Slovakia and Greece.
